Tourism & Smart Cities

Information Technology is a catalyst in serving the citizen and the traveler in an area. "Smart cities" rely on technology to facilitate movement within the city, to contribute to a significant reduction in traffic and pollution, to normalize the flow of traffic, to highlight areas, to reduce bureaucracy and to contribute to sustainable development.

"Smart cities" are connected to transport and take on interesting dimensions when combined with public transport and hubs such as ports, train stations and more.

Information technologies derived from data emitters, IoT, multimodal databases, high-performance systems, web services, interoperability with existing systems, statistics, etc., are the basis for the innovation introduced by the eMT cluster in this field:

  1. Interconnection of information from different sources into a central system in order to allow users to directly receive information on sustainable urban mobility, multimodal transport, thematic or general tourism etc.
  2. Study in the field of Blue Economy, highlighting the characteristics of a location bordering the sea and its development prospects, in combination with the policies and views of productive actors (companies, municipalities, chambers), leading to a sustainable development strategy, forming the background of "smart cities".
  3. A system of personalized routes in an area that aims to highlight the local characteristics (all kinds - folklore, cultural, tourist, gastronomic, etc.) and combine them with the personal choices of visitors or local tourists by increasing the existing attractions.
